Boating

As a Sea Scout Group our primary focus is on boating. Even the youngest members of the group (6 year old Beaver Scouts) are able to experience boating days and by the time our members reach Explorers many are competent in a number of water based activities.

During the boating season we run sailing, power boating and pulling most Fridays from our boathouse in Greenhithe. We have just become a RYA Training Centre for powerboating.

As well as boating on the River Thames we are very fortunate that Bluewater have allowed us to use their lake for Kayaking.

Cambria Sea Scouts have a large fleet of boats, many of which are new in the last couple of years. Our Boats include:

  • 4.8m RIB with 60hp Yamaha Engine - our new safety and training boat is called Lottie
  • 6 Topaz dinghies
  • 1 Wayfairer dinghy
  • 4 small RIBs with engines
  • 3 Rowing boats (Mr Blue Sky, Samson P and Nana Rose)
  • Safety boat
  • Kayaks
  • 6 Toppers
